Updated October 19, 2026. Plants, locations, purchases, cultivar profiles, mapped features, terrain, water-harvesting, site climate, and site baselines records share one source.
Edit JSON, not the database. The repository's data/ collections are authoritative. A validated build generates local SQLite and the browser data used by these pages. The original workbooks are retained as source records, not a live spreadsheet connection.
| Information | Coverage |
|---|---|
| Plants and inventory | 432 individual inventory items from 119 quantity groups, tags, disease flags, owner events, cultivar and purchase-list information. |
| Tree log | A defined vocabulary of events (what happened to a tree, the yearly growth stages from bud swell to leaf drop, and condition notes such as winter injury and frost damage) and the owner's reports. All seven trees recorded as dead died in their pots before planting, and none was lost in the ground. From spring 2027 the stage dates you log roll up by cultivar and year, and each bloom date is matched with how often a freeze still followed it at the Prairie station. |
| Cultivar library | 162 plain-language profiles of the plants in the inventory, the purchase list, the seed list, and the cultivars planned for 2027 (fruit, nut, and berry plants, windbreak and shade trees, perennials, and apple rootstocks): appearance, flavor or use, ripening, how to recognize each, habit, bark, and leaves where a source describes them, and sources, linked to inventory lines, purchase rows, seed-list rows, and planting-plan items. It also holds a general habit, bark, and leaf note for each fruit-tree type, and the orchard records hold the possibility lists for the unidentified apples, cherries, peaches, and apricot. |
| Locations and planting history | 195 orchard spots; individual assignments (all 106 orchard fruit trees are planted, dated October 2026 because only the month was reported, so planting dates may be a month alone), reservations, ten 2027 replacement sites, and genuinely pending outside-orchard locations. |
| Planting plan | Recommended 2027 cultivars for every open spot in R1 to R12 (49 spots: 26 apples, 11 cherries, 4 plums, 4 peaches, 2 apricots, and 2 pears), each marked as a tree to buy or a graft onto one of your reserved rootstocks, with rootstock notes, the inputs the pollination rules need, and cautions, each linked to its cultivar profile. A recommendation, not a record of purchased trees; see the 2027 planting plan. |
| Site and GPS | Buildings, paths, water pipes, eight hydrants, lot coordinates, SiteRef codes, and calculated cell-corner latitude/longitude. |
| Terrain | All 18,009 lidar mesh points, contours, runoff paths, drainage split, ridge/ditch, high/low points, and drainage areas. |
| Water harvesting | Twelve precipitation/ET0 months, three soil horizons, techniques, seasonal calendar, catchment assumptions and future observations. Unmeasured roof areas are unknown, not guessed. |
| Site climate | Frost, temperature, and daylight for the site: the last spring and first fall freeze at 36, 32, 28, and 24 °F for each usable year at the Prairie SNOTEL station (4,800 ft, 2.4 miles away) with the 1991–2020 summary, freeze days and average highs and lows by month, day length and sun position calculated for the lot, and three cross-check sources (PRISM and Daymet at the lot, and the old Prairie weather station). These are station numbers, not readings on the lot, and the open questions about them (bloom dates, cold-air drainage, a thermometer on the lot, wind direction, the county's snow load and frost depth wording, and a year of weather station readings) are listed on the site climate page and stored as checks in the data, together with the one already settled, the official USDA zone for the lot. |
| Site baselines | Reference numbers the climate record does not hold, from the nearest stations, models, and county documents: snow and precipitation by water year at the Prairie SNOTEL, NOAA Atlas 14 design storms, degree days and chill hours from hourly readings, wind (a model at the lot and two measured stations), solar radiation and humidity, Elmore County's frost depth, snow load, wind, and seismic values, and hail reports within 25 miles. None is a reading on the lot; once the weather station has run a year, its monthly averages can be compared with them (SQL view site_baseline_months). Shown on the site baselines page. |
The water-harvesting map now uses the current orchard records: the dead pear, cherry, and three peaches and three Urban apples are not shown occupying their vacated spots, and the planted M-111 rootstock is included for watering. The dead trees all died in pots before planting; none was planted and lost.
From the repository root, with Python 3.11+ and SQLite 3.37+ with JSON support:
python tools\property_data.py build python tools\property_data.py check python tools\property_data.py query "SELECT plant_id, metal_tag, site_ref, status FROM current_plantings WHERE cell = 'C17'" python tools\property_data.py query --file database\queries\terrain_by_cell.sql python tools\property_data.py query --file database\queries\water_budget.sql
The generated database is build\property.sqlite. Open it with a local SQLite viewer, or use the query command. Querying automatically rebuilds a stale database without publishing the website. Read-only SQL cannot modify records, attach another database, or load extensions.
i56-1 identifies one M-111 rootstock. orchard-r6-c3 identifies its spot at x 83, y 485, producing B10-E33-S35. A replacement plant can reuse the spot without reusing the dead plant's identity.
SiteRef, master-cell offsets, and GPS coordinates are calculated from lot feet. For an input code, use python tools\site_grid.py site-ref C17-E12-S18 to get x 112, y 818. See the grid guide for GPS conversion and its accuracy limits.
Every orchard assignment is now planted: the 106 fruit trees in October 2026 (only the month was reported, so planted_on is 2026-10) and the R6-C3 M-111 rootstock earlier (its exact planting date was not supplied). Dead trees and the three Urban apples that move outside the orchard are not planted. A planned assignment is not confirmation of planting, so use that status until a tree is in the ground. Outside-orchard locations display PENDING until assigned. An old vacated spot is not the tree's new location.
